There was once a crow named Esgorah. She was neither proud, nor serviant; Neither stronger nor weaker than any other. She was just like most other crows. But she had a deep feeling down in the pit of her stomach. She had been born with it. Food could not remove it and water could not quench it. For everything she tried, the feeling still remained.
A light shone through the darkness one night as she stood in her eyrie. Dim and distant. As if behind a curtain of cloth. Her brothers and sisters were all asleep, so she took it upon herself to find the light. And as she drew nearer, she noticed for the first time in her life, the feeling in her stomach was gone.
But for every beat of her wings that took her closer to the light, it seemed to move further away. She was getting further and further away from her family, but she could not turn back: For if she turned away, the feelings in her stomach would return. If she wanted to stop the feeling forever she would have to keep following the light. But it seemed that she would never reach it.
“What could the light be? It must have a meaning. The purpose of my life must be intertwined with the light, I must go on… I must find the light…”
But no matter how hard she tried, Esgorah could never catch the light. For you see, there was no light: Esgorah was clearly insane… in fact, now that I come to think about it, she wasn't even a crow. She was just this girl that used to talk to me in the pub.
